Emergency call-outsNights, weekends and public holidays
Burst pipe? Call now, 24/7.
A real person answers, day or night. We reach most emergencies around Winton, Invercargill and Gore within the hour.
03 218 3249After hours, we tell you the call-out rate on the phone before we head out.
While you wait for us
- Turn the water off at the toby, usually in a small box near your front boundary.
- Switch the hot water cylinder off at the switchboard.
- Move anything precious, catch the drips, and take a few photos for insurance.
Smell gas? Turn it off at the bottle or meter if it's safe, open the doors, don't use switches, and call us from outside. If anyone is at risk, call 111 first.
Questions
Things people often ask us
Can't see your question here? Give us a ring on 03 218 3249. We're happy to talk it through.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
On weekdays, the first half hour on site is $95, and that includes travel anywhere within 50 km of Winton. After hours there's a set emergency rate, and we tell you what it is on the phone before we come out.
How soon can you get here?
For emergencies, usually within the hour around Winton, Invercargill and Gore, and a little longer for Te Anau or Tuatapere. Everyday jobs are usually booked within two or three working days, in a two-hour arrival window.
What does a fixed quote actually mean?
Once we've seen the job, we give you the price in writing before we start. If we find something hidden, like a rotten pipe inside a wall, we stop, show you, and price it before carrying on. You never get a surprise on the invoice.
Where is my toby, and how do I turn it off?
The toby is your water main shut-off, usually in a small plastic box near the front boundary or footpath. Lift the lid and turn the valve until it stops, or so the lever sits across the pipe. Rural properties often have a valve near the pump or tank instead.
Not sure where yours is? Ask us next time we visit and we'll show you.
Do I need a backflow test?
If your property has a backflow prevention device (common on farms, commercial sites and some lifestyle blocks), your council will usually want it tested every year. We test it, fix it if needed, and send the report to the council for you.
Can you look after our rental properties?
Yes. Landlords and property managers get photos, a short written report and an invoice that matches the quote. We can arrange access directly with your tenants.
Do you work on farms and lifestyle blocks?
All the time. Pumps, tanks, troughs, filters and UV systems, plus dairy shed hot water. Our vans carry the common pump parts, so most fixes happen on the first visit.
Do you clean up after yourselves?
Booties on at the door, drop sheets down, and everything we take out leaves with us. You shouldn't be able to tell we were there, apart from the tap that now works.
Know what you need? Let's get it booked.
Send the booking form and we'll come back to you within two working hours with a time and a price.
